Characteristics of 200 Series Stainless Steel

There are two types of 200 series stainless steel, 201 stainless steel and 202 stainless steel, which are nickel-chromium-manganese austenitic stainless steel.

The 200 series stainless steel uses manganese and nitrogen alloy elements to replace nickel alloy elements. The lower the content of nickel alloy elements, the higher the amount of manganese and nitrogen alloy elements needed to be added, forming an austenitic structure with the characteristics of non magnetism of austenitic steel.

The use range of 200 series stainless steel is limited due to its significantly lower resistance to intergranular corrosion and pitting corrosion compared to 300 series stainless steel.
