Duplex stainless steel 2205 standard number: ASTM A240/A240M--01 duplex stainless steel 2205 alloy is made of 22% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 4.5% nickel nitrogen alloy composed of duplex stainless steel. It has high strength, good impact toughness as well as good overall and local resistance to stress corrosion.
Corrosion resistance
Uniform corrosion:Because of the chromium content (22%), molybdenum (3%) and nitrogen content (0.18%), the corrosion resistance of 2205 is better than that of 316L and 317L in most environments.
Local corrosion resistance:
2205, the content of chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen in duplex stainless steel make it strong resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion in oxidizing and acid solution.
Stress corrosion resistance:
The dual phase microstructure of stainless steel is helpful to improve the stress corrosion cracking resistance of stainless steel. Under certain conditions of temperature, tension, oxygen and chloride, austenitic stainless steel can cause chloride stress corrosion. Because these conditions are difficult to control, the use of 304L, 316L, and 317L is limited in this regard.
Corrosion resistance fatigue:
2205 the high strength and corrosion resistance of dual phase steel make it have high corrosion resistance fatigue strength. Processing equipment is vulnerable to corrosive environments and loading cycles, and 2205 of the characteristics are well suited for such applications.
2205 stainless steel is widely used in our daily life such as:
1) Pressure vessels, high pressure storage tanks, high pressure pipelines, heat exchangers (chemical processing industry).
2) Oil and gas pipelines, heat exchanger tubes.
3) Sewage treatment system.
4) Pulp and paper industry classification, bleaching equipment, storage processing system.
4) High strength and corrosion resistance of the rotary shaft, press roller, blade, impeller, etc..
5) Cargo boxes for ships or trucks
6) Food processing equipment
