Will copper affect the rust resistance of antibacterial stainless steel?

Jan 07, 2021

Copper is a metal element with strong antibacterial properties

Antibacterial stainless steel uses ordinary stainless steel as a matrix, adds 0.5% to 1% copper, and undergoes forging, hot rolling, cold rolling, and special heat treatment to make the copper element uniformly precipitate in the stainless steel, so that the stainless steel has good antibacterial property .

Nickel and chromium are the main chemical components of stainless steel, and their content ratio is relatively high.

Chromium is the most basic element that determines the rust resistance of stainless steel. Nickel cannot constitute stainless steel alone. It must be combined with chromium to give full play to the rust resistance of stainless steel. The two metal elements of chromium and nickel can quickly form a layer of chromium-rich oxide film on the surface of stainless steel, which makes the steel corrosion resistant. The addition of copper will not change the content ratio of the two metal elements of nickel and chromium in the antibacterial stainless steel, nor will it affect the anti-rust performance of the antibacterial stainless steel.
